Well its been 5 weeks and 5 days since my last period. I found out I was pregnant 4 days ago. I felt the changes happening 4 weeks after my last period. At that time I became very nauseated at the most simplest smells. I was pregnant before but I didn't start experiencing pregnancy symptoms until I was about 6 to 7 weeks pregnant. Could the fact that I got sicker earlier this time mean I'm pregnant with twins? My boyfriend is an identical twin....I just want to know

Hi there! Congratulations.

One of the early signs of a twin pregnancy is that other signs of pregnancy might be exaggerated. The extra hormones that a woman who is pregnant with twins has can make breasts even more tender, make you more tired, make you need to urinate even more frequently, and, unfortunately, cause more morning sickness or nausea.

Another sign of a twin pregnancy is rapid weight gain in the first trimester. This is normal and common for women who are pregnant with twins or multiples. Measuring large for gestational age, in which your health care provider determines that your uterus is larger than usual for how far along in pregnancy you are can be another early sign of a twin pregnancy.
Women who are pregnant with twins often have elevated levels of a protein released by the baby called AFP, or alpha fetoprotein. In addition, you will probably have rapidly rising levels of Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin, or hCG for short, which is a hormone produced by the fertilized egg and used to help your pregnancy while the placenta is developing.

One of the most reliable signs that you are carrying twins is the presence of multiple heartbeats. At around 12 weeks of pregnancy, your health care provider will be able to do a Doppler test, in which he may be able to distinguish two heartbeats. An ultrasound can also reliably reveal whether or not you are carrying twins. At around six weeks of pregnancy, a skilled technician can find two embryos, two heartbeats, and two sacs.

Hope that helps~

You will just have to wait. Getting sick sooner - doesnt mean you're having twins. There is no way to tell. You just have to wait until 12 weeks when they can hear a heartbeat (or possibly more) or else you wait until 20 weeks when they do an ultrasound. At your first appointment though they will probably go over family history and such and since he is a twin- you have a higher chance of having twins- so they may do an U/S sooner to check- at least that's why my OB office does if you have a "high" chance of possibly carrying multiples.

Being sicker earlier has nothing to do with having twins, every pregnancy is different and so is morning sickness, however you could have twins if your bf is a twin its always possible. You can have a ultrasound now but some dr's don't do one this early.. depends on what your dr thinks.

How much and when you get sicker is not an indicator of twins. Both my pregnancies were so different. Are they doing a sonogram this early? I got a sonogram at 8 wks and you could definitely see one little baby, although she looked more like a tadpole! so cute!!!
good luck.

Take it from somebody that is pregnant 16 weeks with twins. I didn't know how I was having twins until I researched and found out it was my grandmother who had twins. If your boyfriend is a twin, that doesn't mean that you are having twins. The father's side of the family doesn't matter.

Every pregnancy is different, as is every symptom..

The earliest you could have a sonogram is probably 8 weeks.

Carrying twins does not necessarily mean you will get sicker sooner... you may be simply more intune with your body.

You will find out soon enough.
