I think the Americans are jealous of the Canucks because Canadians are well mannered, clean, have a good economy, not much of an immigration problem and the Queen as their Head of State.

Originally both countries paid homage to the Brithish Crown did they not ? Surely when the USA became Independent the border between them became political ! Like any two countries that have differing political systems especially nieghbours, there is going to be some flack between them due to differing fiscal, military and legal matters. However in this particular case ( notwithstanding the Froggy, sorry French infuence ) in general they still speak the same language and enjoy many of the same customs and festivals.Because of the large difference in poulation density however, the Canadians can be forgiven if they are a bit edgy regarding their southern nieghbours dodgy record regarding polution of all kinds. But it is my understanding that in general they get along fine with each other. But beware of calling a Canadian American !

I've never had any problem with Canadians ~ and as far as I know, the Canadians that I know have never had a problem with me.

Maybe it comes down to generalities - things have been said on both sides, and the general concensus is that we don't get along, when in fact, we're all people and have the same wants, needs and dreams. "Society" always has to find a way to create division, and that's sad.

We are the same in that we both live in North America.

The same questions may be asked of any two countries that share a common language (and I won't get into Canada's bilingualism). We have different histories and different outlooks on the world.

It probably didn't help that the American's invaded us in 1809, lost and we burnt down the White House. I'm sorry - I have a bias - I'm Canadian.

We don't? Hmmmm.. I live in Hawaii, which, oddly enough, is part of the US. I'm friends with a bunch of Canadians and we like each other a lot. Sounds like some kind of generalization to me---
But then, Americans are usually pretty surprised to hear that people from other countries don't like them. Especially countries that we have fought wars for, or given billions and billions in aid to.
Most Americans remind me a bit of puppies--- enthusiastic, waggly and anxious to please-- not very subtle, however, and apt to chew things up, make messes, or leave poo around. But usually not overtly malicious...
The Canadians I know just really really like being in a warm place--

Whoa, padner !! says who??? This American thinks the Canadians rock. Out neighbor to the North damn sure does not give us the perpetual headache that our neighbor to the South does. I also think the Canadians would have handled the Katrina fiasco alot better than our own government did.

There is no fall out between America and Canada.

I know people from both countries make fun of people from the other but really the only reason it gets heavy is because we aren't worry about starting a beef with them because of the closeness we have.

They ain't got Florida, California, or anyplace warm. They spend 7 months of the year in a frozen wasteland of ten foot high snow drifts and bone-chilling temperatures. I'd be an angry drunk too, if I lived in Canada.

hmm, i always thought we didn't have any problems. but that's because our (canada's) stupid P.M follows Bush like a dog. why can't he be more independent? actually, it's only 5 months for us in Toronto and with global warming, it'll get shorter.
