Psychology and advertising can add up to an awesome combination for certain careers. They'd be very useful if you went into market and consumer research and worked for an advertising agency or a marketing firm. Best of all, these positions pay big money. I had an instructor who did this type of work on the side and he made hundreds of dollars per hour when he did focus groups and such. Good luck with your studies!

A degree in both courses looks great. Some people do advertise just from the point of sales and marketing prospectives. If you have a knowledge in psychology, you can understand how and why people react to advertisements. It is a sure plus for you and you gain a better understanding of human reactions and fit your advertising to their wants and needs.

you can do research to find out what kind of ads people go for/what people respond to in ads or research about why ads don't work. Also, talk to your advisor---he can give you other ideas about this.
