I'm partial to Pc's (XP) , Although Macs don't have the security issues of pc's. You might check to make sure all the software you want or need is made for Mac. Also I think Mac is pretty expensive because of the name. You can get a pc for a lot cheaper. Just some things to think about.

It depends i personally LOVE PCs, but i am a techie. PCs are only good if you know what your doing because you can change the options to your liking. PCs are best used in the work world and in video gaming, while macs are generally best for multimedia purposes. Furthermore, macs dont get viruses(if your good with a PC, you wont ever get a virus either) If you have to ask you probably should get a Mac. However, if you like playing video games or you intend to use your computer for work related purposed(and your not in the entertainment industry) i recommend a PC. It all just depends what your needs are.

I made a big mistake when I went from Mac's to Windows XP.

Mac's were much easier to use. I may just junk this XP and buy another Mac.

which ever you choose - make sure you have plenty of hard drive (300 Gb or more) and lots of memory / RAM (1 to 2 Gb RAM or more)
because programs are being built that older pc's can't handle because they don't have the memory or space (hard drive) capabilities
and have both cd/dvd burner and cd/dvd rom drives
