I went to Mexico once for a month. I had an interesting time. I would have more fun maybe if I had more money. I went to a small town called San Miguel de Allende which was very cool because there were art schools there and the city is considered a national treasure due to its historical significance. The streets are cobblestoned and the city is on a hillside. There's an interesting old church downtown, with a square. Lots of good food, lots of dogs walking around unattended, lots of interesting little shops.
I want to take my girlfriend there so she can see it too. That region is interesting. I took some bus trips, and it's hard to describe, but some interesting times were had.
Of course it depends on how you're feeling too. If you go there with a closed mind, and think that Mexico is lame, then that's what you'll find. If you go there and think you're going to learn a lot and have an adventure, you can easily do that too.

I studied in Mexico, have visited several times, and will be returning to live there soon. I love the people, the weather, the music and the food, of course. I have spent extended time in various parts: Guadalajara, Mazatlan, Mexico City, Zacatecas and Toluca, and loved them all.
The thing that I like about the people I have associated with in Mexico is that they are not only nice (I happen to think Americans are very friendly too), but they are very laid back and seem to have their priorities in order as far as life goes. I feel like a stressed mess in the U.S., but relaxed and comfortable the minute I enter Mexico! Maybe that's because Mexicans don't necessarily care about some of the stupid laws and rules that we have in the U.S. I always laugh when my friends down there run a stop light in front of a police officer, who doesn't care because, "hey, there's no one else at the intersection!" I also love it that when I dance with a guy in Mexico, I am not humped like I am on dance floors in the U.S.! Mexican guys actually know how to dance the respectful way:)
However, Mexico definitely has some economic and political issues to overcome. I have visited and spent time in a "shanty town" type of locale down there and the conditions that the people were living in made me feel absolutely sick. The people there were still sweet as can be to me though. I can't say I'm so fond of the attention I get from the men for being a blond, blue eyed lady, either. I have also been cat-called and bribed by Mexican police officers...so you probably know how I feel about the Mexican police.
I still love Mexico though and can't wait to go back!

I apply for everything that you mentioned above, and Mexico is a great place to visit, because of the culture, the beaches, the people, the great ecological resources, and more. There's not a right answer to your question. Mexico is a great place to visit depending on what you are looking for when you visit a place. I went to school until I graduated from elementary school in 6th grade, and I do have to say that Mexico is a better place when it comes to education, right now I'm in high school and the things that we are doing right now, I did back when I was in elementary school!!! The family also tends to be closer. And of course you like you said welcome home parties taste better when the food is 100% authentic, so you definetely can't forget about Mexican food!!!

For me it's the warmth of the people and how hard they work. Always with a smile. No job is to small or to big for the people. This keeps me coming back here to visit. The service is sooo good.
I also love the big and fabulous resorts.
And the margaritas. The best.
A very nice country to visit.

everything is very inexpensive, and the climate and countryside are beautiful. however, the economy is terrible and I feel terrible driving through places with people living terrible lives. It makes me thankful for what I have yet also makes me ask "why me and not them"
