I heard you need xbox live to play backward compatible games for the xbox 360. I have no problem with that because I have xbox live. I need to know if you will still be able to play the xbox game when your membership runs out.
please help

You do not need XBL to play XBX games on the 360 offline. But if you want to play against other people online, then you will need XBL.

You can use XBL to download the latest patch, or you can use www.xbox.com and download it to a cd/dvd and upload it to your 360.

Just a warning, you need to do a backward compatibility search on www.xbox.com to find the list of games that are currently backward compatible. Not all XBX games can be played on the 360.

Every Xbox 360 comes with the silver edition of Xbox live so you will still have it. Since you pay for Live then you have the Gold Edition which gives you more features then that of the silver. You do need Live to download updates that will enable you to play the original xbox games. Xbox team will start with the most popular games and work their way down the list. Personally its stupid they need to be like Playstation, but whatever. Dont worry about your Live account running out cause your 360 already comes with a life time free edition.

i bought several cheaper games designed for the xbox to play on xbox360 and they wouldnt work, The 360 would go to xbox live and download an update but still wouldnt play the old game. there is a list of backwards compatible games that will work, out there floating around.

my 360 just crapped the bed, I had to send it in to the factory for repair, after the screen froze, and then got 3 flashing red lights, hope that doesnt happen to you.

yes the only thing you need the subcription for is the backwards compatability updates which you can also download onto a pc, burn them back to a cd and update your 360 that way....

just go to the xbox website and it gives you all the info there for updating your 360...
