She washed them on a 40, but they just aren't fitting back on the sofas, nor are the cushions. I suggested leaving them off (coz it looks quite good, still) then getting some throws but she thinks it will look trampy??!!
Help us please!!
xx

Often with fabric if you wet the material you can stretch the fibers back out. I might suggest that you dampen them so that they are just a bit wet (not soaking) and see if you can reshape them. You may even be able to stretch them over the sofa again and then take them off and let them air dry. I have done this technique with other items before like pant legs. Good luck.

Depending on the fabric and how much they have shrunk, I'd run them through a wash cycle, cold water and then try putting them back on the sofa while damp.

I'm not sure what a 40 is (I live in the US), but try getting them wet to see if it will stretch farther. It's usually the drying of the cushions that shrink it, so make sure you don't dry them after you wash them. Put them on your furniture straight out of the washer and let them air dry on the cushions.

Get them wet and gently strech them back out. May have to let them dry out between wetting and streching. At this point, you've nothing to lose.

The same thing happened with us! We ended up kind of playing tug of war on the covers until we stretched them out...maybe that will also work for you?
