Three seperate phrophicies; I-Ching, Mayans and the modern day Webbot all predicted the same day for the end of the world, December 21, 2012, in 5 years. The cause will be a Black Hole will come into allignment w/ the Earth and will flip the electromagnetic poles causing total devastation.

How does a black hole "come into alignment" with the earth?
What does that mean? Where is this black hole? How does a black hole switch our magnetic field? How does that cause total devastation? (It will be bad when the poles do switch, but 'total devastation' is going too far. Life has survived ALL THE OTHER TIMES OUR POLES HAVE SWITCHED) How is the earth (or our solar system) not destroyed by being sucked in to the black hole?

Like every other time someone has predicted the end of the world throuhgout our history, it will be wrong. Just because they dress it up in a bunch of $2 words doesn't make it any more likely.

BTW, there is no strong evidence that the Mayans considered that day special. It IS the day their calendar starts over, but so what? All those people that thought the world was going to end on 12/31/1999 were wrong. Then they said, "No, its really 12/31/2000, because that's the REAL end of the millenium".

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

No, of direction not. some psycho thinks the numbers mirriring one yet another is a few thing magical. so as that should recommend it would be 21/12/2112, good? as though the order of the numbers has some magical result on something in fact. The Mayan calendar ends that 12 months, and a clean Mayan calendar starts off. The Mayans who got here up with that calendar have been extinct for hundreds of years. What accessible distinction ought to anybody's calendar have on earth? Its in simple terms silliness.

another doomsday prophecy. a black hole wouldn't cause the magnetic poles to flip... i think, if that would happen it would likely be a natural occurence and have nothing to do with a black hole. a nearby black hole could cause other problems though, evne if it doesn't get too close to the solar system it could knock some comets loose fomr the oort cloud thereby sending a stream of potentially deadly comets into the inner solar system. of course if the black hole got really close it could throw earth right out of the solar system, or disrupt the orbits of the planets so that they will collide or earth could be thrown out into a distant orbit around the sun so that it doesn't get enough sunlight for us to survive.

of course since this prediction is based on a mayan calendar that happens to end i wouldn't hold too much to it. i am interested to see what will happen on that date though, i could be proved wrong

Black holes are caused by collapsing stars. The earth would be dead before the black hole formed.

I have heard of a potential asteroid around that time. Some friday the 13th (seriously) in 2012.

Look THAT up.

Hi. Something special does happen on that date. The plane in which the Earth revolves will align with the plane of the Milky Way galaxy. This is caused by precession, but I don't think the world will end in chaos. On the other hand, if we knew it WOULD would we get along better?

It's been well documented by the R&S section, so I for one have heard of it. If it's true then I have a lot to cram into 5 and a half years.

The world was supposed to end back when I was only 10 yrs. old. That was 53 years ago. According to the bible the only one who knows when the world is going to end is God and he is not telling.

1.of all black holes are very rare2.black hole do not do any damage unless you are right next to them The thought of a black hole going to wipe us out in five years is really really unlikely

Well, according to history, there have been hundreds of prophesies of the Earth ending that have come and gone and we are still here! I for one, wouldnt put too much faith in it!

My dad died at age 94. In his entire lifetime, someone was always giving dates as to when the world would end. It did not happen for him, it is not happening for you and me. Worry about things that are real.
