Homeless people have nothing to lose so life simplifys itself in their world. What's more scary is for someone that has much to lose seeing it taken away. They have fewer survival skills than the less fortunate. Life and peace arent measured by what one has or doesnt have. It is determined by acceptance of ones self and others regardless of their surroundings or possessions.

Of course it is. Even worse is to be homeless and alone. You need friends to help you watch your back. I was homeless once for a while. I faced obstacles I hadn't thought about before.
Homeless people can't cook food or open a can. Some food is worthless to a homeless person because they have no way to prepare it. If you think it's cold outside from inside your house, it's 100 times colder to the person that's out there all the time. I used to get so cold I felt like my bones were frozen. Also, if you get even a common cold, it can be a disaster on the streets. It's very scary... and miserable.

There are a lot scarier things in life than being homeless. Depends on why you are homeless. And when, where etc..... When I had no where to go and I was homeless - it was better than other things that had happened in my life. You see the world differently.
And you can't really 'try out' being homeless. You still have the knowledge that you have somewhere to go that is warm and safe with people that care about you. That you have somewhere to keep your stuff, somewhere you know you can bathe...so telling people to go out and try it isn't really going to give them an idea. It doesn't feel the same as having nothing. That's when you realize what you really have.

I used to visit some really bad areas of Los Angeles and donate some food to the homeless. I am pretty sure it is scary, from what I have seen it looks scary. I am sure everybody in their lifetime never told themselves that they want to be homeless when they grow up. I think a majority of homeless people have lost family or have turned to drugs. I would be real scared to have no family or friends and have to rely on complete strangers to help me out.

I was homeless for a time. I was living in a shelter though. I don't know if you mean on the streets or just homeless. I was more anxious then scared. I just wanted to get my life together and get a job and home of my own.

Its scary if you really and truly have no where to go and you're in a foreign place. Esp if you're a young girl.
But most homeless youth hang in a crowd, there's safety in numbers. And once a sort of routine is established its really not too frightening.

It's scary not knowing where your going to sleep at night. Or what might hurt you while your sleeping. And it's also scary not knowing when your next meal will be.

If you live in a rural area, go out into the woods, and stay there for as long as possible with no interaction with any family or friends. Then ask yourself this question again.

Just think about it. Where can they put their head down in comfort and safety? Where do they go to protect themselves from the storms and tempests? and just the fact that they have no-one who cares enough about them to offer them shelter. Where can they have the peace of knowing that no-one is going to rob, bash or molest them?
