I think that's the norm for all advertising channels - it's their way of getting your attention, whether in a positive or negative way! Most of them drive me mad too!!

I know what you mean it is always when adverts come on with most stations but channel four. e4 and e4plus do it a lot. I think they get a lot of money from it and depend on it.
They are always the same type of ad repeated over and friggin over again as well.
if you look at the way they format many shows to get us sucked in to watch like showing the eye of big brother every add break. I think they employ a good pyscologist myself in what works and what does not.

Most commercial channels have a raised volume when the adverts come on and yes it is very annoying, and so is the unnecessary loud background music played on every program when people are talking, it is always louder than the narration and completely spoils most programs. Why do they do it, I would be interested in a sensible answer.

Yes i do. I think a lot of the TV stations play the adverts louder. I have to turn over or turn the volume down. It's a pain.

There was a news report a few days ago. The TV Watchdog (forget the name) is going to ban the change in volume for adverts. About time too....
Mind you, my upstairs neighbours are like a herd of elephants so I leave the volume up loud, just to drown out the noise of them running around above my head.

I wish I could get my hands round the throat of the people who are behind this insane way of forcing us to take notice of their damn advertsing time!
We should all NOT buy the products they show (and that we so desperately want) and cut off our noses to spite our faces, and laugh while we are doing it like the crazy viewers they think we are.
And if you don't have a remote control you must be deaf by now with the volume difference between programmes.
Sorry, just had to get that all off my chest.

It's not just on channel 4, it's on all the channels, why does this happen and can't something be done.
