In my opinion, much conflict is caused by religion including wars etc - must religions rant on about how peaceful they are and yet they are often barbaric, unforgiving and far from peaceful. I think wherever you have differences in skin colour, race, religion etc you will always have conflict as some will think they have a worse deal out of life than others. Don't forget though, this diversity can also bring harmony, culture and an opportunity to learn from each other too so it's not all bag - as always, just the extremes.

I see two reasons :
first, in any socially organized animal species (thus also humans) there exist a dominance hierarchy. Everybody 'fights' to be as high as possible, for at the top are the females, the best pieces of food etc... There is where the egoism appears.
Second, each socially organized species will defends its group, flock, tribe or whatever against enemies (= individuals not belonging to the group). How do we know they do not belong to the group : because they are different (in whatever characteristic : color, behaviour, religion, opinion ) from what we where used to as a child. So education/example is THE clue to prevent all those problems !
But if ever all human races get along well, they will still defend themselves against the 'others' : aliens, bugs or whatever !

Because we think some people are less civilised than us!! For example, people with beards and still living in caves are considered to be less civilised while people living in ivory towers are considered to be educated and well mannered. Did you read what Winston Churchill once said about Gandhi? He said that he is half naked fakir and not worthy of talking to!! Now with words like that how can people get on in harmony?

I guess, everything boils down to economics. We feel threatened by the unknown.

Hope this helps.

What a boring world if everyone agreed with everyone else! The Human race can only move forward if we are allowed to question our, & others beliefs. Its just that some people & beliefs are tolerant, others feel threatened by different ideas, usually because their power over others is questioned.

I hardly understand why this was in the Biology section, but I'll give it a go.

Sure, we're physically the same, but we have different beliefs and idea's, and quite frankly, people aren't the same.
