Actually, the old testament says that the death penalty is appropriate in several instances. The law was basically "an eye for an eye".

In the new testament, Jesus says "The law says an eye for an eye...but I say this: before you remove the mote from your brother's eye, remove the plank from your own."

As a Christian, and being pro-death penalty, I feel that Jesus was talking about personal conflicts, and the ability for the individual to forgive, since he also said he wasn't there to destroy the old laws, but to strengthen them. Besides, how can you read about some of the sick, twisted ******* today and not come to the conclusion that some people just need killin'?

I declare to the world that I have just been convinced by a mocking twelve year old on a computer that 2000 years of faith and scholarship by learned men was all wrong. I will now go forth because of this pizza eating pizza face and become a liberal. How could I be so foolish and want those who kill and rape to receive justice. Maybe we should all sit around a camp fire and sing Come By Ya My Lord, hold hands and the whole world will be better. Yep that's the ticket, maybe if we just talk to the murders and rapists they will be sorry for what they have done. Ohhhh and its so much cheaper to house them in jail for 50 years. All that cost for those wonderful lawyers protecting the lives of murderers and the actual cost of putting them to death is pure foolishness. Its so much better to pay for 3 square meal, cable TV and medical cost for life.

Jesus came to fulfill the the law not to abolish it.

Thou shall not kill, but then you have to read the entire OT, to figure out the DO'S & DON'TS about that law. The bible was the law book at one time and it most likely in there

I think people get it from the eye for an eye thing. I personally believe in the death penalty, but not to do with my religious believes. I kind of think God probably does not like us to kill each other... but how do you punish someone who does? I vote kill them. Or make them listen to a loop track of Ashley Simpson for a week...
