I play social computer games to relieve my depression temporarily. It gets my mind off of reality, and I can really be myself. I also am accepted for who I am, and I have an important role in keeping the group alive. =) It makes me feel important for a little while, and not worthless and unaccepted like in reality.

First thing you should do is think what makes you happy. Or picture you are in a dark room respresenting your depression, and all of the sudden there is a light out of it. Now in that light is what makes you happy. So here is what I say to do. Think of some goal you want to do, something that would make you happy. Set that goal and never think you cant do it because if you do you wont achieve it. Then once that goal is complete you will think, wow, I just did what I wanted to do. And you will feel good about your self. So after that set a another one. Oh and while you are doing those goals make sure to do things that make you feel good. Like go see a movie you want, go out to dinner with some friends, go to a club whatever to make you enjoy life. Also always think positive. If you do this you will slowly but surely get out of depression.

The most important thing is to realize that there is a way for you to overcome your depression. The second most important thing to realize is that different people have different ways of overcoming depression--don't necessarily take everyone's advice too seriously, because what worked for them may or may not be the best thing for you. I will list a few options and both their benefits and downsides, so that you can think about your personal life and experiences, and decide what you think would be best for you.

Here are some ways to overcome depression:
* Some people find counseling, talking to a therapist, to be helpful. However, this doesn't always help--it's important to find a therapist whom you can really trust, who really listens to you, and who actually helps you to enact change (just talking about your problems won't usually help.)
* Some people find antidepressant medication helpful. However, you should be cautious because some doctors prescribe antidepressants too readily, and many of the newer ones are addictive and not too effective.
* Spending time outdoors in bright daylight, and making sure the rooms you are in are brightly lit. Dark/light is related very strongly to seasonal depression (SADD).
* If there is some stress in your life that is connected to your depression or making it worse, finding ways to eliminate that source of stress, or just cope with it somehow, can really help your depression. But not all depression is connected with stress.
* Your diet and general health can affect your mood. Eating a well-balanced diet, eating regular meals that are enough but not too much, and getting regular exercise can go a long way to making your mood stable and good.
* Starting something new, something that is structured (like you do on a regular basis) and that you enjoy very much can help you overcome depression. This is especially true of activities that involve people--if you can find something that you enjoy it can go a long way.
* Some people find that religious communities can be helpful or supportive for them getting through depression. However, you want to be careful--some religious communities can be closed-minded and just gloss over or blow off peoples' issues with depression.

The most important thing is to realize that you are not alone, and that you have the power to overcome your depression. You need to stop feeling powerless and start taking charge and feeling like you are doing something to get your life in order and be positive. I would recommend that the first thing you should do is to try to find someone to talk to about this. Do you have a school counselor you can talk to? Do you trust your parents to talk to them? These are a few places to start. Everyone's situation is unique though--you need to find what works for you.

I have found a very helpful website that can help you stop negative thoughts (emotional thought stopping) and set you on the path to recovery (www.have-a-heart.com then click the "Depression" button). It has worked wonders for me. Once you've read through the site and have given it an honest chance to work, you may want to read "What To Say When You Talk To Yourself" by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D.". It's a great book focusing on eliminating negativity. Depression has a nasty habit of getting worse, so do your best to deal with it immediately. I've been there. You will make it! Feel free to contact me.

Just take a nice walk outside, preferably in the country. Look around u, hear the sounds around u such as the birds for example. See The trees, grass. Smell the nature. I mean just look at how beautiful everything is that we are givin' to appreciate. And most of us don't. We are actually very lucky to have what we have in life here. Think positively about things around u and in ur life. Take in the good of things instead of the negative or bad. I always try to find the good in everything. That seems to help me. Good Luck !

I try to focus on the good things I have. I have a great family, a decent house and food to eat. Even though times may get hard, I always feel that someone has it worse than I do and I should be grateful and happy. We all get depressed from time to time but dont let it take over your life. Try to be positive even when things are tough.

there are a few things you can do. The most importsant thing for you to do is pray and ask God to deliver you from depression. I suffered from depression and through salvation and prayer through jesus Christ, i was delivered from it. God is the devine healer. there are many levels of depression and though i advocate prayer for relief, I also believe that god gave us medicine and it may be wise to talk to your doctor. You may nbeed counselling or yo may need medication depending on the cause of your depression and the severity. But foirst and foremost...go to God with it. he knows the answer and he WILL answer. You simply have to listen. Being a christian does not mean you have a perfect stress free life, but it does mean that you you know yo can lean on God to carry you through difficult times.

Go to your primary care physician and relate all of the symptoms. He may prescribe a medication or defer/refer you to a psychiatrist. Do not put it off. You make reference to feeling the blues every once in awhile and being depressed. Depression is a medical condition requiring treatment. The blues are just down days everyone experiences. With depression, you stay down and go even deeper. Its treatment is fairly rapid the sooner you a professional.

Life is a roller coaster ride, I've been there you need to realise that your family loves you and they would be devastated if any thing ever happened to you.
