To get music into your computer you need:
a sound card
an adaptor cable
a tape deck
appropriate software.

Hook everything up, push play on the tape deck and push record in the software.

To get it onto a CD you need:
a CD burner (or a DVD burner. Almost as cheap and can burn CD's as well)
a blank CD
and appropriate software.

below is a site that has step by step instructions (but it is for a specific sound editor program - polderbits software program - it is similar in set up for other sound editor programs)

I use goldwave sound editor which is a free download program - if you choose to d/l goldwave - make sure you also download the LAME mp3 file which is an mp3 encoder needed for converting files and is also available for download in the goldwave site (is listed just below gw d/l)
