In her book, Chasing the Dragon, Jackie Pullinger tells of being called by God to Hong Kong to work amongst the prostitutes and drug addicts living in the notorious walled city. Though fearful for her own safety, daily she would try to make contact with people who lived in some of the worst conditions one could imagine. But after six months little had been achieved and despair set in.

She agonized about it for days. “If God has called me to be here why aren’t people responding?” One morning she realized what was wrong. She’d been telling people that God loves them and that Jesus loves them and wants to forgive them but she’d not been loving them in any practical way. She needed to go and be as Jesus, with them. The next three months she spent, “soaking herself in scripture and prayer - and being drenched by the Holy Spirit!”

Her new and very practical approach yielded a remarkable response. Providing food, shelter and healthcare, visiting prisons, speaking up for victims, these became the ingredients of her everyday life. The situation was so transformed that even the drug barons watched out for her safety. She’s still there and so is the church that grew from her work but the Walled City isn’t. It was demolished ten years ago.

Well you say "we" as in mankind separate from the Universe, discovered or created these "morals" and better ways to live, but according to the Bible, Science, and many findings, we are just a spec in the evolution of the Universe. With that being said, I'll ask you this: Is seeing really believing? My theory is that we know very very little of what is the overall truth, of our origin, purpose, and identity; religion or no religion. You say organized religion because the religions and beliefs spread throughout the world have been mainly preached by humans in search of credit, power, and money. Therefore, we all have lost much respect for "religion" and in turn the Gospel. The Word of God or the Gospel is what inspired all the greatest beliefs and understandings in each of the religions from the past, present, and future. The Word of God is easily identifyable once you have opened yourSelf to the possibility of perfection in life and what is real. What is truly real can be found in the greatest beliefs and "morals" you speak of yet, we (mankind) just want the credit for discovering them when these obvious laws of having good life have been around long before the planet was even formed. We are creatures of mostly habit. The repetition of doubt and stagnation in our mental make-up and belief system has thwarted our capability and willingness to "let go and let God" so to speak. We barely trust ourselves enough to work together and in turn come up with all the excuses in the book "getting away with murder". So lets just say (for lack of a better word) it is our doubt and malintent that hinders the evolution and natural progression of God's innate moral codes. I wouldn't say you are wrong just lacking important pieces of information.
