They have injuries and Brodeur is getting worn out. When you play a defensive style and expect your goalie to make that many saves you are going to have struggles. They need to learn how to play offense as well. On the other hand losing second seed may not be so bad. It may leave them more fired up for the playoffs.

I think a lot of the teams who are definitely going to the playoffs are pulling back a bit in the last few weeks of the season and trying to leave something in the tank to draw on when the time comes. The Sabres have not looked like themselves in the past few games they've played, either. New Jersey's regular game is boring (sorry but you know I'm right) so maybe they're just trying to keep fans by playing hockey instead of "no matter what we'll play the trap". The game Wednesday against the Sabers should be interesting.

I think that the injuries are taking their toll on the Devils right now. Everyone knows that the Devils are a defensive minded team, but they need to put some goals on the board in order to win games. With their biggest offensive weapon on the shelf (Elias) its going to be interesting to see if they can hold onto the 2nd seed in the East. They have the Pens breathing down their necks right now. Which is good for me and all the other Pens fans wooo hooo hooo!!!!

Not sure. I bet their just going through their down time. It happens to all teams. It happened to the Penguins. We lost 2 games in a row. But now we're catching up. Be careful NJ you lose one game and the Pens will pass you with flying colors.

injuries isnt an excuse
everyone has injuries
elias and gionta go down, and they are not nearly as good, and pittsburgh has a good shot at catching them for the division win

they yell at the rangers for being to reliant on 1-2 guys
well the rangers had injuries, alot ofem, and they are still winning almost every game recently
i hate the devils

Thats what i was wondering. Theyre really not in good shape right now. Especially with patrik and brian out. Plus..brody is really getting worn out. its obvious. They should let him skip maybe 2 or 3 games. The last time clemmensen played he seemd pretty good though. they really should let him play.

It's called sports . . . up and downs

The question is not even necessarily who is the best team, but which team is on that upswing into and through the playoffs.

Don't be a "fair weathered fan". Hang in there. They will get better. Things like this happens to all teams.

The Devils will go as far as Brodeur takes them, no further
