using the big lake thing as a reference point.
it's supposed to be to the west but when i travel west [left] i get to the place where there's purple fog & the monkey helped you cross it.

If you're going to Eldin Province (as in, you *already* followed the monkey and beat the Forest Temple), then you need to go north. Go back to where to received your Lantern and go north. The way will be open now that you've beaten the dungeon, and all you need to do once you're in Hyrule Field is turn slightly left and run straight. Follow your map to the west.

if your talking about the place I think you are (the place with the fog that kills you and the monkey) you have to get out youir lantern, and then follow the money.
