Joint accounts and secured debts can pass to a surviving spouse or estate. The creditor must be granted a judgement before a lien can be filed against the debtors property. Unsecured debts are vaporized as the debtor cannot pay from the grave.
Your actual recording should have been vested as joint tenants with right of survivorship. Contact the creditors and send them a copy of the death certificate and many will go away. Others will work something out with you and your legal representative.
