I've been interested in working in air cabin crew as a flight attendant for sometime. I've done some research, written to airlines & have a couple of queries that might affect any applications.

Firstly, Im 40 years old & though I look younger Im wondering if this may not be in my favour. Secondly I got into some trouble a year ago for being drunk & disorderly. The police gave me a formal written caution though I've never been in trouble with the police before.

So to be honest it's really important to know where I stand in job applications. Im embarassed about the caution. What can I do? Is there someone I can write to? If you can advise, let me know. Thanks.

Age shouldn't be an issue. Criminal Records Check - yes, you should be honest as for a Security Pass they'll do a check with Police.

You need to try, otherwise you will not know, we can't tell you whether you will be successful!

Good luck!

Hello

if you are in the UK, then the new Age Discrimination Act has recently come into force. This makes is illegal for not giving a job and/or sacking someone because of their age. They would have to provide good reasons to prove that it was not your age that didn't get you the job

Formal Written Cautions stand for 3 years. I would disclose it as if they do a Criminal Convictions Check- it will show up. A caution is not a conviction as you have not been prosecuted in a court of law but it will flag up.

I think honesty is the best policy.

Good luck.

age means nothing to many US airlines. they have just as many 35+ applicants apply as they do 21 year olds.
i talked to many f/a's, as i am trying to get into the field as well, and most have told me that it is appearance, attitude, and experience with customer service etc that mean more to the recruiters than minor criminal trespasses. as long as your were not convicted you should pass the 10 year background check, so don't let this infraction stop you from applying.......
good luck
