By telephone wire or satellite?

It depends on where the message is sent. It may travel any number of ways to it's destination using a cost method. This method includes capacity and location.

Sattelite is sometimes the cheaper way. The internet does not have set routes. Depending on traffic/congestion or network failures, the message may actually take different routes for each packet that is sent.....ie your message is broken down into 20 packets.....10 may go over the undersea cable while the next 10 will go via sattelite.

I hope this answers your question
