In the UK it is an offence to play ball games in the highway.There is no requirement for signs.The offence is under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847,Sect 171.It is also unlawful under same legislation to fly a kite in the street.

Its public property and as long as they aren't
causing problems they can play football in
the street all they want.

It is legal to play football in the street. it is illegal to be a continual nuisance to your neighbours which is what i guess you are getting at!

Apparently Illegal... my friend was nearly evicted because her son played football in the street... can you believe that... what is this country coming to???

yes, provided there are no "NO BALL GAMES" warnings visible in the area where they are playing... even in this event... it has to be proved beyond a doubt that the kids are causing a nuisance and disturbance... usually that for the older ones and leave the younger ones to take the blame ...we have signs but there is not one of us parents would allow our kids to go play in the park a distance away from our sight in this day and age of abduction, molestation and killings... Against the law??...even if it were, I would rather fight the law and keep my kid in my sights and protected...

it is illegal for kids to cause a nucience in the street...... if they are troubling neighbours then they are in the wrong..... its the way the law is..... kids who do things to offend neighbours will end up with ASBO slapped on them......

not saying i agree with it... but thats just the way it is
