Alright well I am 15 years old and my boyfriend is a senior and I think we are going to go to the prom in May and I really find most prom dresses tacky, boring... and all together lame (to be very blunt =O) and I looked on Ebay to look at their prom dresses because I generally find the clothes on Ebay to be more unique, how embarassing it'd be, showing up to prom in a dress another girl is wearing, no? Well, I found this dress that I believe would suit me, color and design wise (and def price wise hehe) but I was just wondering if you all think it's a bad idea, being it is prom, to buy a dress I am not sure how it will fit.

that is the dress, it is pretty darn affordable and it's not MY prom, so I don't really want to go all out, as it is not like my last hoo-rah at the school, I got 2 years to go. Alright.. so thanks for your advice ^_^

Also, what kind of shoes, color and style, would look nice with that dress? Thanks a billion.

I'm not asking your opinion on the dress, I'm asking your opinion on buying a dress online.

I am 15 and paying for the dress I don't have "less than $150" to spend on a dress, I don't know what kind of rich family you come from but 100 dollars is still a lot to dish out on something I will wear for only a few hours. And, I have a weird style and am somewhat oldfashioned, the dress style has nothing to do with what shoes to wear or whether buying a dress online is a bad idea!

Cute dress. If you like it go for it. Plus your right it's not YOUR prom, it's you boyfriend's so if it's affordable and you like get it. I think that dress is fine, and it's very unique. Especially if it fits your style and size. Try white shoes with that dress. You may even be able to find yellow flats because those are in style now. But make sure they match or else it will clash.

Well, buying online is not a bad idea, but you have to be careful. Buying from eBay can be really risky. Sure, they have protection, but that doesn't help much if you buy a dress and its damaged or doesn't arrive and you don't have time to find a different one.

I'd say look at http://www.berraboutique.com

They have the same low low prices for new and lightly worn gowns, but they're a reputable business with a lot more at stake than an eBay person. Just a thought.

Also, the site has a special promo right now. If you put the code 3200-01074 in as a promo code in the shopping cart you get an extra $5 off the dress.

OK I definitely like the dress. If you are concerned it will not fit though, I would be a tad worried. If you think it will be too large then I say go ahead and order it since you can probably get it tailored to fit you perfectly if you have enough time before the prom. If you are questioning if it will be big enough, nix the idea altogether. Granted they could alter it to fit you, it might look messy considered the fabric. As for accessories, less is always more, I would rock some simple gold sandals or funky chunky open toe heels. Maybe a nice pearl necklace so you could look very Jackie O and some small white gloves (the ones that only cover the hands and do not go up to the elbows). Good Luck and Have Fun!

If you really do want to save money and you later decide that you want to get a dress from a store don't forget to check clearance racks at stores like Deb or Ross's (not sure if that is a country wide store or only in the northeaster US). If you really love that dress on ebay get it. You will have more fun at prom if you really love what you're wearing. If this is the dress that you have your heart set on, buy it but make sure you take it to a seamstress and get it properly adjusted so that it fits right. This may mean that you'll actually end up paying as much as one that you could buy in a store. If you get the ebay dress I would go with either a gold or cream colored shoe.

The dress is okay. It's kinda plain, but classy. If you want to buy it, go for it. Don't set your hopes up really high on it if people are placing bids on it. Someone may outbid you. Also, it gives you the sizes for the dress on the site, so you had better go to a store somewhere and find a seamstress who can tell you your exact size. Take those measurements from the site with you and they can tell you exactly how it will fit you. Good luck!

wow, that is unique! not really my style, but itfyou like it, that's what matters. I knowticed that the seller has the dress mesurements posted above it. what you need to do is measure ur waste and bust, and see if it matches, if it doesn't and you think you will get it before the prom, then buy it and take it to a taylor to get it to fit you, unless it is going to be too small on u. as for shoes, go with the same color shoes if you can find it, and make them cute stilletos with a high heal. i think that would be cute. hope this helps.

so you're concerned about if you should buy a dress from e-bay or not right?? NOT what we think about the dress. Well... personally i dont think it's a problem to buy a dress from e-bay. i have a friend that did that and she got a nice dress. it's not where you buy the dress, or how much it cost. what matters is that YOU like it and that it makes you look gorgeous! and it's not like anyone's gonna find out about where you bought it so dont worry about what other people think :D

well... it's kinda hard to give you advice on what kinda color and accessories you should wear with out knowing the theme of your prom (if you have one...) my school does so ya.... but it should look fine if you chose colors that are used in the dress. and try to match them.

i hope that helped you and i hope you have a great prom

As much as you may love that dress. You never truly know what your buying on eBay till you get it! There could be rips in it you may not know about etc. But If this is a dress you love i guess all i can say is buy it! (It is a pretty good price anyways) -clear/silver shoes would look cute with it.

...Now what I want to know is what will happen if your bf doesn't ask you out?

Its risky but since its not your grad you may as well take this kind of risk now. Also order it so you get it well before grad if you can so if it doesnt work for you you have time to get another one from some cheap (but quirky) store quickly. And i think some saucy white high heels would look good with it. Maybe some whiter silver style necklace deal too or if your into more boho stuff go for that instead.
