Are there other states that has the inbreeding that they say Kentucky has? Surely we aren't the only state responsible for this.

Most people do this because so many years ago when Kentucky., West Virginia, Virginia and most of the Southern States were being settled, there were not so many people near each other.. So alot of cousins did marry cousins back then. This did happen all over the Country along time ago. To me, Kentucky is one of the most Beautiful States in the Union and I was born up here in Michigan but I love it more down there!! Probably because that is where my Father's family came from and my Mother's family from West Virginia right across the river. Most of my Cousins who live in Kentucky now are my 3rd and 4th Cousins at the same time!!

What makes you think that we Kentuckians are responsible for inbreeding? I lived in Pike County Ky all of my life, now I live in Greenup County, and through the 25 years of my life I have never met anyone who was "inbreed". I think that tourist just like to make fun of people from Southern States, especially Kentucky because of our accents, our ways of life in general. But as far as "hillbillies" they are everywhere. You should be proud to be from the south. Majority of our military are natives of Kentucky and West Virginia. So that proves that people from Kentucky have large hearts and are full of courage.

I think just about every state accuses its neighbors of inbreeding. As far as actually doing it, I would lean towards the states with closed communities. The Mormons in Utah, the various religious groups(Amish...) in Pennsylvania and West Virginia... Closed or isolated communities lead to inbreeding out of sheer necessity.
