I remember my father telling me he went oversease on the Queen Mary during world war 2, he was concerned about getting "Torpedo'd", a crew member told him that the ship does 30 knts., no torpedo can catch her, they then ran into a storm so fierce that it ripped the entire railing off the top deck, I rember him saying "And that ship is over 80,000 TON'S, just so you know what the ocean can do".

in addition to the length numbers audio god gave; ships are also more accurately measured by their displacement........a nautical way of saying how much they weigh.......
Titanic was around 45,000 tons; Queen Mary I is 85,000 tons; Queen Mary II is a whooping 115,000 tons...........
Titanic is quite small by the scale of today's cruise ships or ocean liners.....
