My daughter is almost 7 months and doesn't coo very much. She laughs a lot but doesn't really make sounds. Im a first time mom so Im not sure if its normal. She just seems curious about everything and not very vocal. She hears perfectly, no problems there. I was just curious if this is normal. She has a doctors appointment as Im concerned about this but I just wanted to see what others experienced with their children, see if Im overreacting.

Its completly normal. Every baby is different. Some don't shut up all day, they just jabber on all day. Others are quiet and will only make noise if they want something or think something is funny. But your doctor can note if she had any other develomental delays. But my nephew didn't, and still doesn't, make alot of noise when he was little, he laughs and says words but isn't that jabbery. He is 1 now and is still a quiet little guy.
Good luck

My girls were trying to talk from birth. My youngest "talked" more with my Mum than anyone else. As soon as she saw her, she would start making all sorts of noises and sounds. And my Mum would sit there and talk back to her like they were having a really good conversation.

Some babies are just more talkative than others. If you are that concerned then go and see a Dr to be reassured that she is fine.

My daughter all started cooing and responding in direction of sounds i might say quite properly at 3 months. each infant is diverse in spite of if that is going to likely be approximately that ingredient to start it or already be doing it!

Some babies are just less vocal. I can see a difference in my own two kids. When my son was two months he would coo and gurgle to himself or at us. My daughter, now two months, will only coo if we are actively talking to her and we coax it out of her. Your baby could just be a quiet kid. It is her temperament.

well i wil definitely say that it is not normal for your child to not make any cooing sounds by now. my daughter is 3 months and she makes noises at 5 am. you can actually see her trying to force the sounds out. i believe their are concerns so just be prepared to folloe up on her to make sure all is well

My Baby is Five weeks old and won't shut up lol, but they say every baby is different, Your Baby just may not have much to say or she may have some sort of problem. I wouldn't Worry quite so much, However I would get it checked out we're not doctors here.

my son started at 2months, he is now 2 months and three weeks and wants to talk all the time. i started off by Reading to him all the time and explaining everyday things like what the remote was used for. I pronounce all of my words clearly (no baby talk) . and he is on a role. i figure he'll be saying momma any day now.>>>>www.myspace.com/ppyt
