I dunno, I'm kinda torn on this one. On one hand, I hate that the tragedy happens, but the outcome and aftermath proves invaluable. I wish it didn't have to occur, but then how would I find anything else out? If you want a tale to better describe my situation (or one anyway) click on my profile, and go to my question 'is western medicine total garbage'. Think of it on a global scale if you would like. Let me know! Thanks ~N

Extremely bad tragedy... Sun explodes... humanity (and all life forms we know) erased.
Any good come from it? If so, no one around to appreciate it
(you may argue our tragedy is displayed in an alien world whose technology is so extremely specialized that even though they can capture our demise a thousand light years later, they hadn't realized, until that moment, that suns can explode. They at least gain knowledge. Bit of a stretch.)

But I think most tragedies have lessons they can teach, if we are willing to learn them. The circumstances may not be perfectly matched, but if we can avoid future screw-ups because of past events, good on us. And quite often this is exactly what happens.

Peace

I Think good actions come from good people. Some circumstances catapult an immediate need for response, such as an Amber alert and 100's show up to search. If found a tragedy has been avoided, however, things can happen and beyond the police effort, the public never has anything to do with it. A person may or may not decide to open, say, an after school care facility to offer safe haven for children until the parent gets home. If people only worked for the good of mankind, none of us would worry about someone taking advantage of another. I think in your case, medicine is a guessing game. Doctors put together your symptoms and guess between 1000's of diseases. They are good people who want you to be well, but they just don't know. And at the end of their workday they want to go home to their families. I say keep the vitamins flowing and don't hesitate to see a doctor when you really need to.

Tragedies are terrible & painful to deal with but the cliche is true: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Suffering & overcoming build character. Meeting obstacles, dealing with difficulties stretches the soul & helps you to become a better person. Great beauty can come out of great pain, just as an oyster creates a pearl. If there were no sorrows, we could not appreciate joy. Every experience is valuable and sometimes it is the most tragic experiences that teach us the most.

Some of my best poems, songs & paintings were inspired by pain & tragedy.

So in a sense, yes something good comes from it if we become stronger & make positive changes in ourselves & the world around us as a result, if we can achieve something beautiful out of the ugliness, rising like a phoenix from the flames.

Well I'm not sure that good comes from ALL tragedies but i can think of some good from my past problems.
When my house got struck by lightning it gave us a chance to replace the floors and counters like we've always wanted to but never got a chance. And it sure did get us to know our neighbors!
One time my mom's car was stolen but our car was a stupid car that randomly shot off its alarm so when they stole it, it gave us a chance to get this great new car. And one day, my mom woke up with shingles in her eye, but that sure did pull our family close together.
So I think that if you look deeply into you problem you can probabey find so good in it. I hope I helped you!

You can look at any tragedy and find something good and or a lesson to be learned, just as you can look at anything really good and find a negative. Simply stated that is the secret to happiness or misery. You choose.

Before I look at that post let me answer this one first.

I agree with you no one likes to experience horrendously terrible experiences in ones own personal life. But they do happen without our consent. Therefore our only control on those events is what kind of attitude do we have in that one? Will it be a positive or constructive or negative and resigned attitude toward the consequences of those actions?

I don't believe that good comes from tragedy, but it gives people the opportunity to show the good in them.

No, good does not come from all tragedies. Some tragedies have no ultimate point to them.

I believe that with tragedy comes opportunities to learn. I also believe that opportunities to learn come from wonderful things, too.
