The facts are that you dont want to create a website, but a business with a website.
Any website by itself, is not a business, because there has to
be a number of software tools--all functioning in harmony--
in the background to assist you to manage, promote and
market your internet business.
You have to have technology to make your online business
lucrative.

The more technology you have, the bigger bucks you make,
because technology is what creates ALL the LEVERAGE.
Example, your online business makes bucks even when you
are asleep or on vacation, do you see.
Furthermore you have the entire planet as your market, eh.

But more technology means more headaches, aggravation
and expenses to put it all together. That is why many beginners crash and burn on the internet.

Now that has been completely reversed.
You can make big bucks online without any technical skills
and without a webmaster, all at a cost of a dinner for two at an expensive restaurant, without alcohol.
All the tools you need in one package including a live person
assistance until you are up and running.
And you can always come back for more assistance at no charge. These folks love people

First, you and he need to figure out what you want to do with a web site. Will it be an electronic business card, billboard, brochure, or interactive communication device? Each is slightly more elaborate and more involved. The electronic business card is a simple one page site with basic contact info. The billboard is like the business card but with more information about the business. The brochure lays out your products and services and tends to be a multi-page site. The interactive communication device has the same info as the brochure but includes a "Request Information" or other type of form.

Once you've figured that out, you'll need to register a domain name (i.e. dadsplumbing.com). Email me if you want specifics as to where you can register the domain name. Cost $8 - $60/year.

Then, you'll need to obtain web hosting. This is the web server upon which your web site will reside, so that when someone types www.dadsplumbing.com into their browser, they'll find your site. Again, email me if you want specifics on places you can host. Cost $4 - $60 /month.

You can set up a very basic site on your web server. Then you can come up with a design for the site. I'd recommend finding a designer to help you. Remember, your web site is a reflection of the business. You don't want people thinking you have a sorry business just because you have a sorry web site. The site is an extension of your brand image. Designer Cost $50+ /hour

If you want to start with a lower budget, you can find web site templates on the internet that you can buy at a reasonable price. You will customize the template with your information and images. Template Cost $50 /template.

Your web host should allow you to create email addresses tied to the site (i.e. Manager@DadsPlumbing.com), so you will need to set those up. You can forward them to another address, or simply set them up as individual email accounts.

That should get you going. There's a ton of freely available information on all of this on the internet. You just need to search in the right places. Cost $free.

Disclaimer: I am a freelance web developer and programmer. I own a business that provides domain name registration and web hosting services.

I use 1&1.com for my websites. its under 30 bucks every 3 months, but I get 3 free domain names. Once you have this, then it's a matter of how easy or difficult you want your web site. You have place several photos of the work he does, a page for information, contact, freq answers to problems, etc. or a website with big lights and music.
Then just submit your website to yahoo, msn, google, etc. and place flyers in your town.
