why is there a scotsman on the new £20 note when scotland have their own currency?

the pound is a uk currency, and i know you can spend it anywhere in the uk but scotland have their own design of notes, same as england always has, so how come a scotsman is on the back of the english one? i mean are we merging the notes to one design or something? i meant no offence by the question!
