Just a disagreement with one of the people who commented. Do not EVER pay an agent a fee to either sign you or interview you. Their job is to get you work. You should NEVER pay them a dime until they've booked you a gig.
That being said, do as much as you can; community theatre, Student films, local commercials, voice over work. Do as much as you can and try to take away something positive from each experience. Be a good role model and student of the craft. Avoid being a diva/devo, and always thank the crew, they'll appreciate it and it helps if you have to work with them again in either a film, commercial or on stage.

shakespeare in the park
try out for everything
college plays
disneyland etc.
high school plays
commercials
start auditioning
also go to acting school

i'm an actress myself so i can help you! search on the enternet for agents around your area and visit them and audition. if they ask for over $40 dont take them because then they will be a scam!
