While over at my mothers this afternoon we were putting a mirror on her dresser. It was noneventful and took all of 5 mins. Upon sitting down She noticed a Huge bump forming on her hand between her ring finger and middle finger. There was no pain or abrasion just this golf ball size knot turning black. We put ice on it and it went down some but I just phoned her and she said it is now spreading thru out her hand and it is now hurting. She is not on any blood thinners. The only thing she has taken is predizone for (spelling) gout.

It is probably a broken blood vessel. I get them sometimes in my finger. No reason, just happens. Hers though sounds like it could be more serious. It would be wise to call her doctor.

It probably isn't a bruise because they don't normally turn into lumps. Maybe it is a blood pocket from the injury it caused..who knows...she should see a doctor. Pain always means something is wrong.

I would say a bruise and I bet she pinched her ring finger while lifting and did not notice. If you have Arnica spray gets rid of it or it will just go away eventually.

perhaps your mum caught her hand on something and just forget. bruises do happen this way. get her to put some witch hazel or tea-tree oil or lavender oil on the bruise. if it continues to get worse get her to the doctor.
