The UK & Ireland questions are posted on the American site. They have no way of knowing that they are answering a UK or Irish question. By default users in the USA can see all questions asked in English.

The issue has been discussed in the suggestion forum, and hopefully we will see this resolved soon!

Yahoo Answers Katie has reminded us that: "If you would like to see only questions from your country you can do so in the drop down bar below the category lists. This will allow you to select all English questions or all questions from the UK (or whatever country you are posting in)."

One thing I have noticed is that I sometimes stray on the the US site without realising it! Its only when I spot a slight spelling difference that I glance up at the address bar and see that I am at http://answers.yahoo.com instead of http://uk.answers.yahoo.com

We all have the choice. In fact when I as a Brit started on Yahoo answers and set up the website in my "favorites"
I got on to the US website by my URL by mistake and found that I had two choices, either only "US" questions or else "all English", Only much later I discovered there was a different URL to put in which got me the choice of "UK and Ireland" or "all English". But I still like to have freedom of choice as it is sometimes interesting to find out the opinion of people in US. Equally when on TV I must say I would prefer it if we could tune into USA versions of news stations like CNN and Fox, instead of somebody censuring us and forcing
everybody over here watch a biased British version of these US news stations.

The default interface for the US version shows "All English Questions," whereas the UK & Ireland version shows only questions from that region.

I have noticed that all questions in the English language tend to go directly into one single Y Answers. For me it says that I am indeed using the U.S. version. When I click on the UK one I see the same questions though. I probably have mine set to show all English anwers now that I think about it. I don't think it matters that much though does it?

There doesn't appear to be a separate version on my screen, rather all English-language questions are shown. The origin of the poster isn't available to me, not sure if that goes for everyone. You can set it to show either all the questions in one language or have it only show those where the posters are registered in one country.

I'm in the US, and each time I connect to Q & A, this is the site to which I am directed. I haven't seen a US version, but rather an "English-speaking" version. It may be that Yahoo has lumped us all together as Anglophones.

If you don't know already, ALL and I mean ALL the English written question go to the same site by default. It's not as if we Americans clicked on the UK & Ireland flag on purpose like YOU are implying.

I agree with everyone else's answer, however i think a lot of people just add inane answers because they are obsessed with getting points.

Also please don't be offended by the idiotic answers you are bound to receive to a good question like this one! Many of us use this site properly and the experience is ruined by a small minority of immature idiots

i agree with t time. it doesn't say "uk question here" or "ireland answers" its all on one page. there are no special marks or anything for us to tell them apart. we are on the "english version" we just simply read questions and write back.
