why does the government get into debt and crap like that? can't they just make stuff for free, or if not, couldn't they just make a bunch of money to spend? like if they want new weapons or tanks for war, but they're too expensive, they're the government. can't they just get it? haha, this probably makes no sense. i've just been wondering.

If you have contol of THE printing press, you can print money... with SOME consraints that, if not observed, would send the economy into a black hole never to be seen again. And if you are the Dumbya Coup, you can use no-bid contracts to make your cronies VERY rich at the expense of the American taxpayer. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

The government has to closely watch how much money it creates. If the government made twice as much money as it should, for example, then our currency would be worth half as much... meaning instead of that Honda car costing $20k, it would cost $40k. Also the government still has to pay expenses just like anyone else... it has to pay its employees or contractors to build these tanks, it has to buy the supplies, it has to pay the engineers to design them, etc etc. The government actually pays very well for these things, which is why we have the best technology. Most weapons (guns, tanks, etc) are build by private contractors and then sold to the government, because the private sector does it much better.

Governments have always been bad at managing money. A lot of the money is wasted in beauracracy (paperwork and such). This is why governments go into debt... especially the American government.

If they want to make the currency worthless, they could do that. So they do the next best thing, which is they make a bunch of money to spend and sell government bonds saying they'll pay that money back to other people in the future.

The more money that is printed the less your money is worth. The government cannot just take things they have got to purchase them just like everybody else. Otherwise you end up in a dictatorship and lose your freedoms. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

The Federal Reserve is the central bank in the USA. It owns everything and everyone in this country. The President is simply the Feds Lapdog that does the will of the Fed. The Fed is privately owned by a few super rich families and they are the ones who run this country. With a click of a mouse they can create as much wealth as they please and nobody oversees them. Yes, we get to vote,I think, depends on who is rigging the elections, but the people we get to vote for are the pre-approved puppydogs of the Fed. God Bless Federica.

You have just defined one of the biggest causes of inflation--the government printing more paper.

Humans must get and spend. It is what we do. Take away all money, and you take away any incentive for humans to work together.

nope, that's when you run into problems like inflation...under our economic system most military objects and equipment are produced by private contractors, not by the government...

if we were to just print more money it would be another 1930's Germany situation, when a stamp cost more than 3 BILLION deutche marks.

If there was profit in anything the Government does, the Government would not be doing it , big business would.

if the government made more money then the prices of things would be different. our currencty for our money would be more if there was more money printed. the government think they can do what ever they want to do.

It makes sense when you spell 'democracy' as 'DUMOCRACY'. Hey! slavery will never go. They have ways to lure us into slavery. 'Debt' is the most modern weapon....Watch out...
