PG-13 places larger responsibilities on parents for their children and moviegoing. The voluntary rating system is not a surrogate parent, nor should it be. It cannot, and should not, insert itself in family decisions that only parents can make. Its purpose is to give pre-screened informational warnings, so that parents can form their own judgments. PG-13 is designed to make parental decisions easier for films between PG and R.

Most of what people have said isn't tottally that true. There are definetly not that many "13 year-old mothers" in the US. When your 13, you should be responsible since you are a teen. PG means parental guidence, so if a parent(s)/guardian watches it with you, it's O.K. Just remember that such behavior seen on TV, should not be copyed, just because you think you were old enough to see the movie....Most movies at PG13 probably have suggestive behavior, but if your taught right, you know to sort of "ignore" it and just know not to do it!!

It depends. If it's just the back of them (their rear) or just a quick shot of frontal nudity, it's usually considered a PG-13 movie. But if there are many long shots of frontal nudity, it's usually rated R.

i guess its down to the censors what they put in a movie. besides the kid who goes to see the movie most likely has seen a sex education video and knows about the "birds and the bees"

Because it was done tastefully...or because they have nudity EVERYWHERE...in movies, TV, on billboards, hallmark cards, drivers licenses,.....everywhere. Nudity has no shame, and neither should we!!! LOL
