Bryan, let your wife have the pleasure of giving you, the man she loves a gift without you telling her that you don't want anything. Learn to accept gifts of love, even though it is purchased in a store from your wife and family without resistance. It causes hurt, take it from me, because my husband used to be that way in the beginning of our marriage a long time ago, and I used to feel so bad and cry..until he finally realized that he was hurting me and he learned to accept presents from me and his children. What you do is make the person who is giving you a gift only feel very deflated and bad..so be a good guy, from now on, accept the birthday gift or any gift with lots of smiles and appreciation, and enjoy the day also with your wife and kids and tell them you are the luckiest husband and dad in the whole wide world. That Bryan is what being a family man is all about.

You sound just like my Dad. I think it's completely normal to feel that way. If your wife is really set on getting a gift, maybe there's something for your home that you really would like to get and that can be your birthday present, something for everyone. That's what my parents tend to do. I can't remember what people have gotten me for specific birthdays, but I can tell you every single birthday and what I've done with my people.

I am the same way. I tell my wife to save the money and not get me anything. Never works though

I could not NOT get something for my sweetie. Its just my nature to give. Let her get you something...it will make her feel better. Just give her some suggestions on some token gifts that don't cost much.

I think you're perfectly normal. You'all could go for a picnic in the park, or something.
