Reductil (sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate) scored poorly when tested in studies looking at sustained weight loss.It has a large number of contraindications. It tends to raise blood pressure and as a psych-active drug do not use it all as a diet aid. I remain unconvinced that its benefits outweigh its risks.

It is an appetite suppressant that stimulates the 5-HT receptors in the brain. These control your hunger. Therefore they make you feel full quicker, but they only work if you stop eating when you feel this fullness. You must also reduce calorie and fat intake. They do not alter the way your body absorbs fat. They are effective for a 2 to 3 pound loss a week. Generally they do not have side effects but could react with other medication

Didn't help me to loose any weight, it just helped me to realise that I don't have a problem with my apetite, I have a problem with comfort eating. If you over eat because you are genuinely hungry, it can be helpful. If you are like me and you eat for emotional reasons, it is unlikely to help.
I didn't have any side effects while I was taking reductil, and I lost about 6lbs in 3 months - not enough to stay on it. I've lost more following weightwatchers.

i had it a few years ago. i stuffed myself to see if it worked and it did i felt sick. i lost 21lbs in the first month and did not need it after that as that was the push i needed. there were no side effects apart from feeling sick and bloated if you ate to much. i would recommend it. just don't take the little blue pills that expel 1/3 of the fat from your diet without digesting it. it causes real problems with flatulence and you fart orange grease which stains. it also stains the toilet and when you need to go if you aren't near a toilet within seconds you are in big trouble. sorry cant remember name of these tablets. just don't do it!! stick to reductil

Yes, I do. It's a useless medicine; if you don't start exercising every day and reduce the amount of calories you consume, you'll keep the same weight...

yes i use Reductil, its aim is to aid in weigh loss, its not suppose to be an apetite supressent, but it stops 30% of fat intake, I havent had any side effects and yes if you are dieting then it does help towards weigh loss, but its not a quick fix...
