Is it really fair to us that we ALL bear the brunt of shame because SOME of us voted for Bush??

At the end of the day, people deserve the government they elect.

Whether or not you voted for the side that won, you are a part of the collective lot. If you don't like the reaction you get from it, too bad.

End of story.

Why do so many people in the world dislike Muslims because of the acts of a few?
Not fair really is it? Why should we all bear the brunt of shame because of the acts of a few? We never voted for them too but still we are all vilified??
Bush just adds and adds to the propaganda.

Because some Americans, not all, but a good many have an air about them. Before you get defensive, its a cultural thing. The whole, gungho patriotism, liberty for all thing is good, but unfortunately that can easily transfer to arrogance when dealing abroad.
I've been on trips in groups with Americans & some are great, no prob. But the ones that are bad stick out SO horribley & give the rest of you a bad name. My sister was on vacation in Scotland and one of the Americans yelled out in the restaurant to the waitress "Don't you have any American food?" In case you missed that, thats arrogant. Don't travel & expect the world to bend to your wishes & everything you have at home to be everywhere else.
And Bush isn't the first moron. There's a legacy.
I'm Canadian, work retail and see ALOT of American tourists every year. And every year i get asked the same question over and over again when ringing in a transaction, "Don't you have any american change?"
Uh, yea. You're in a different country. We don't use your currency. That would be like a Japanese person going to Des Moines and asking for Yen back instead of US cash.
ok, last example...on this sight, a few hours ago, there was an american posing the question of why the americans didn't just go nuke the muslims after 9/11?
Its like so many of you just have blinders on to what is going on around you, what you say, what you do and how that affects the world around you. And then you pose the question, why don't you like us.
It's not like the rest of the countries of the world don't have morons in them (and running them, look at ours, PM Harper is a complete moron), its just that it seems Americans have a louder voice, and its backed by this smugness like you're entitled to this louder voice. Well, you're not.
hope that answers your question.

Well no-one from England can say anything because some of them voted for Blair. (I'm English and I didn't). I've noticed that on here too, but to be fair, a lot of Americans do put down the Brits. I think it's ridiculous when we should all be joining forces to get rid of the Bin Ladens of this world. He's evil-personified walking round untouchable and all people can do is bicker at each other for no reason whatsoever. It's pathetic. I have nothing against anyone from anywhere providing they're not racists or paedophiles.

No, you bear the brunt of shame because you KNOW he lied, and yet you stand by and DO NOTHING.

I'm not American (thank goodness) and yet even I know that your Declaration of Independence demands that the people MUST rise and up and remove those despots governing you.

We watch you Americans, as more and restrictive laws are passed, and you lose more and more freedoms, and yet you say nothing. We watch as Bush tells more and more lies, and you do nothing to tell us that you know he is lying.

The rest of the world is aware that American media is censored very heavily - you do not see a lot of what we do regarding bush, Cheney and Iraq. But you still have access to the internet. We are watching as you ignore the internet, you show no curiousity and you do nothing.

You American do not seem to be aware of your own history, and all the previous times your news has been censored. The problem is that those who become President - also become corrupted. The saying that "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is just so true.

As someone said above - the supposed majority voted for Bush - twice. Yeah, yeah, I know he rigged the elections and cheated, and you people stood by and did nothing.

Basically, you know your government is corrupted, and you seem to like it. The rest of the world HATES it.

Much as I dislike our, um, fearless leader, he's not to blame for our bad reputation.

Well, not entirely.

How about the fact that we work too many hours a week, too many weeks of the year, our health is bad (and our health care is atrocious), we eat too much fast food, we don't give enough to foreign aid, we're arrogant and start wars because of greed and a sense that somehow we "know better" how to run a country (even though many of our citizens are totally miserable and sick and mentally ill.)

There are a sh!tload of reasons why people hate Americans. Part of it is bad PR (negative media on us in other countries, as we report on other countries negatively in our news outlets.) Part of it is nasty American tourists. Part of it is people immigrating here and telling people elsewhere about how things are here.

And remember, we had a bad reputation WAAAYYYY before Bush. We've been seen as bullying boar-types since, oh, about the Mexican-American War, at least.

Plus, the Civil War and that slavery thing made us look kinda unsavory.

And we were seen as upstart whippersnappers in the American Revolution.

Plus, we were religious deviants and criminals in colonial times.

So, basically, we got a bad reputation about the same time we got a reputation.

It sounds like other folks can add. The United States military killed like a million Vietnamese and now some hundred of thousands of Iraqi. So, these people are assuming that we Americans think other people are stupid, dumb and worthless and so it is OK that we murder, kill and generally destroy them at will. Not to mention the fact that we fought in Vietnam for ten years and could not win, and now we are stretching out this Iraq War to be certain that we get our job done properly like in Vietnam.
How could they possibly think that Bush is anything but a hero to world.
And let me say right now, that Bush and every American who supports this war is riding our motorcycles daily in reverence to those kids that are fighting and dying for us daily.
Just look at the thousands of Americans who flock to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington every day of the year, come rain or shine.

From an English point of view you have an arrogance and forthright attitude that can only be seen an illusion of superiority over the rest of humanity a club of which your president fails to come close to belonging

You have NO history other than the one born of being a penal colony and your ancestors destroyed what true history the American sate ever had by attempted genocide of the the true American people in your destruction of the Indian race you make me ashamed to be English an in such having a responsibility for the annihilation of a country's history

May God however you see him forgive you for such miss begotten opinion of the worlds savour's and may the true Americans find it in their heart to forgive us for their annihilation

Don`t be paranoid, all Americans aren`t disliked.
Its just the same in the UK. Blair is a moron and our country will be bankrupt if a change doesn`t happen soon and that doesn`t mean Brown taking over.
Maybe we could club together and send the three of them on a mission to discover life on Mars.

I love Americans even if your president is a moron! American people can't do enough for the British, so friendly and genuine. British people can be so cold but Americans can open their heart. I love going there and eventually would like to live there.

I don't hate Americans, as a Brit, I think you're bloody hilarious, like old fashioned proper British Eccentrics.

There was a report on the ITN news on UK channel ITV. Two US pilots blew up a tank, killing a British soldier by the name of Mathew Hull, he was in his early twenties and married. This was yet another case of 'Friendly Fire'.
The US Air Force were unwiling to let thier men be tried with anything more than a awful mistake and forbidding the airing of video of their gunners making the strike, a crucial part of the inquest, enraging the dead soldiers family and the British public up and down the land.
A friend of one of the gunners was interviewed by a British journalist and he said something like the follwing:
'We saved your *** in WW1, your soldiers were lazy you should be grateful. When we (USA) go into fight, you better be right behind us backing us up, don't think about thinking for yourselves. You guys are *******'
(OK, I used a little creative licence but the tone was the same.)
The next night after thousands of complaints, the same man appeared on the news, apologising profusely and looking pretty bloody humble.
(if you can access it, please do. Its so degrading to Americans who have intelligence)

These are the kind of Americans us Brits dislike and they do true Americans a horrible disservice.
Good luck
Oh, George Bush is a superb stand up comedian
