I mean they're only human, and from the way many of them act, that's being kind. Why do we care about their every move?

I think people today do not have enough to occupy themsleves (Hmm here we are on yahoo) and it is kind of an "idol" worship and as the previous 2 people said, we like to see how the might fall or screw up...Some like the fashion but others like the bad behaviour as they can relate. The celebrities of 30 years ago were more refined or did not publicly flaunt all their flaws. Today most people will do anything to get in the news or be on tv on on the web. I also think parents and teachers have lost their place as "becons of light" and for some strange reason the public goes nuts over what and how the "celebrity: is doing wether good or bad. I once had a business dealing with someone famous and was shocked at how people behaved. screaming and yelling and carrying on, as we had to walk thru a public place to get to our meeting. I guess I did not see the person that way.

I honestly do not know why we care. As you said they're only human. I guess it is because of the average people. Celebrities are not perfect. They make mistakes, just like the rest of us. It is a simple reminder that everyone is human, and no one not even celebrities are "gods."

In our society, we care for that because when celebs do something, they go extreme on it. Some things that we cannot do, so we are usually blown away. Then we watch them for a while. Take Britney for example. She marries Kevin Federline, has two children, divorces Kevin Federline, stopped wearing underwear, started partying and drinking, enters rehab, shaves her head. Next thing she'll have a peg leg!! Another example is poor Anna Nicole Smith. May she rest in peace. She had a wild life!

you are exactly right, i agree with you 100 percent, I mean, like enough is enough already about Anna Nichole, I mean who cares I and many other people cant stand her,
Soo why does the press continue hello and wake up people, I think mabe for people to understand that a celebrity died, But please only tell the people for a day, but to carry on and on and on about it, thats sick man, people seem to act as though the celebrities are family to people who dont have any one they get lost in television, and its terrible, People got to realize that the oldies are the goodies, and lucy Ball if they bring her personal life into things and more and more , She would turn over in her grave

Mixture of admiration and curiosty. To be a celebrity, one needs either to be very talented or have strong family connections. Most who try to reach the level of celebrity status fall flat on their faces. Those we see on TV beat the odds and succeeded in life. Some, however, let the pressure and ego get to them and eventually also fall flat on their faces.

It's human nature to have people in a pedestal, and since we don't have caste/class systems in the US, or royalty, all we have are celebrities.

Plus, when they have fame & money, and still can't find happiness, it makes us happier about OUR lives.
