1]
NO --- it is most unlikely,
that you would be able to obtain a police check ,
on the character, of a private individual.

2 ] your reasons, would have to be, very good indeed .
( you will probably, need to hire a solicitor to get this )

3]
Even then , you may still come under the breach confidentiality laws; ( data protection act )
you can not snoop on private records,
without good reason or authority .
And the police, are not at liberty ,to give that sort of information out

4]
. if you are pursuing this person ,
for payment of a debt or for fraud / theft etc
. then a criminal complaint ,against this person
, may be launched by you .

His past records, though held by police,
will not be made public, until after he is convicted

I hope this clarifies your question .

I wouldn't have thought so, unless you meet a crooked Police officer & that is highly unlikely in this wonderful country of ours.

Just had a thought, No 10 may do it for a few quid or you could try the MP for Sheffield

There are so many places that will do a backround check for you, however be prepared tp pay for it, $10-$30. Just do a google search on it.

NO, plain and simple as the data protection act stops people giving out informaition where it is private unless its the goverment or police.

To get a CRB (criminal records bureau) check you need to have the permission of the person you are checking

Depends what country you live in, in the UK you would have to have a valid reason and approach the CRO at a cost of approx £ 40.00

Yeah you can do it, but I can't guarantee the accuracy. You have to pay for it, and it's fairly expensive.

No, you don't have to give a reason.

that would depend on which country you are in and what the rules are, if it is that important to you then you might have to go privet.
