other than the name i need to know what the difference between these two is and if polyester could fly (im building a kite by the way)

I think it would be great for kites. I'm not familiar with ripstop polyester, but I am with ripstop nylon, and I'm thinking it's the same sort of material. There are different types of nylon; some have the rubbery waterproof backing, which you don't need. It does fray quite easily though, so be sure to finish or secure the edges well. Ripstop would be much better for a kite; it's generally used for outdoor garments, like a light jacket. I think it's waterproof. It's not pricey at all where I live.

i think that ripstop is much more durable and much more pricey
