I am an American, and I despise what American culture has become. It's a superficial joke nowadays. Do you want proof of that? Turn the television on.

I see a trend in the answers already and agree in most part with that trend. It is the US Governments foreign policies that people hate and it is tarnishing the way people think of and treat the American people. It is not lost on me and I am sure a lot of other non Americans that the Sham they call American democracy is so transparent it doesn't deserve the Name. How did George W get into power? I recall the State govenor for Florida who just happened to be Georgies brother Handing him the state by abrogation, thereby giving him an electoral majority when in reality there were more people that voted against him than for. About time you revised the system methinks. Electoral seats ????????what the is that all about ok maybe in 1776 but not anymore.

Anyway Americans are as diverse as any other nationals and there are good and bad. I find americans quaint in a strange kind of way because they ( in general ) know so little about the rest of the world, but my hand goes out in friendship to them.

I had the privelege of serving alongside your countrymen on active service in Gulf 1 and also in Germany. I made some life long friends from all cultures, puerto Rican, African American, Red Neck, New Yorkers. As with all nations and cultures, there are differnces in the way we live our lives but that just makes for interesting learning. I was all ways treated with respect, friendship and welcoming arms. Your countries citizens cannot be held responsible for your political leaders, both your leaders and ours have created fear and loathing world wide, not our fault.
Personally, hands across the ocean, all ways will be.

When I was up in Deutschland I thought the people were nicer than Americans....apparently they thought they were nicer than Americans too, because certain clubs/bars wouldn't let Americans in because they start trouble when they are drunk

I dig the old style areas of the cities in Europe that got the big walkways of roads with the store fronts....in America, we got that worthless store WalMart that spread like a cancer instead of having that unique family owned delis and shops and ****....NYC and some other places have that, but for the most part we don't have the unique style like that

It's weird how so many Americans think that people from other coutries hate them.

When I first moved to the UK I had the same fear myself. I quickly learned that most people decide who they like or hate based on actions, not where they are from.

We're sitting here in America listening to all this stuff mostly the younger generation who will one day be running this country. I'd say be careful about what you say today because tomorrow it may come back to bite you in the ***.

American people are OK American politicians are absolute **** look at the way they have behaved over the killing of a British shoulder four years ago........... they denied killing him.........when that lie was found out they denied there was any video footage of this unlawful killing.............. when the video footage was found by the British press your govermetn refused to let it be showing in a British court of law....................now you refuse to bring the murdering pilots to justice........... AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR ALLIES .......ARE YOU SURPRISED YOU ARE HATED ALL OVER THE WORLD.............. if this is how you treat your friends........ what do you think............But I really do like the people and the country............good luck

I think that many people like Americans, they simply hate our government. Others hate everybody here, especially democracy.
