In the story dates back to the ancient Greco-Egyptian folktale. First written version known was in 860AD. Ye Xian, appeared in Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang by Tuan Ch'eng-Shih. There are many, many versions of the plot. The name of the stepmother is often not mentioned and sometimes the stepmother does not appear in the story at all. Sometimes it is the 2 stepsisters that oppress her. Sometimes, it is the stepfather. Since there are so many different versions, I think you should feel free to add a name if you feel compelled to.
