Not every republican agrees with the values of the far right, why do people not understand that? Because I am a republican I am a bigot? Who made these rules?

Why is it that if you are a republican, then you must be a bible-thumping hate filled person.

Does the far left really think we are incapable of independant thought?

I have never called anyone a socialist, perhaps the rhetoric is the problem with today's politics.

Travolta.

My party does not want me out, only extremists, kinda like yourself... either you think like me or you are completely wrong. GROW UP.

I am also in favor of Gay Rights and I don't want anyone to have an abortion but I don't have the right to tell them they can't. Our Party Leaders Republican and Democrat are not in line with the rest of the Party if you ask me. I am a Christian and that means I don't have the right to judge anyone for who or what they are. I like Yahoo answers because of all of the passion. Sometimes I get insulted but lets take the good with the bad.

I know that not all Republicans are against woman's right to choose or gay rights. However, you have left the extremists speak for you and the evangelicals take over your party. You belong to a party that is slowing doing away with a woman's right to choose and moderate Republicans haven't been nominated for the presidency. Only conservative ones. I think moderate Republicans should protest, do something about it.

Your point is well taken. I considered myself to be loyal Republican until the Reagan and the Religious Right came to dominate the Republican Party.

The claim to be the party of the Big Tent open to diversity of party members. Well is if you are pro life, pro gun, anti gay, pro war and anti environment. The moderates in the GOP are left out. None of the potential "family value" candidates support the two issues.

It's called being moderate.
But, you will be lumped with the likes of the loonies like Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and others while they are allowed to speak on your behalf.
The left has their 'loonies' as well, (according to right wing loonies) but if you look closely at what they have to say, you will find that they are trying to 'improve' things, not just spew nonsense and create division. Gore, Moore, etc. I am a 'moderate' Liberal, and I have no problem with letting them speak for me.
Big difference.

Your words:
'Does the far left really think we are incapable of independent thought?'
Sweetie, you are well on the way to thinking like a Liberal!
Independent thought = Liberal thinking.

Then you are a RINO and marked for extinction.

If you are not a social conservative, then you are a "Republican In Name Only." The conservatives in the party want you out.

Notice how they are mostly from the northeast. The Democratic Party is now becoming the party of the North and the Republcian Party is becoming the party of South.

I expect alot of moderate/liberal Repubs to get kicked out of the senate in favor of Democrats in 2008.

Dina,
Apparently you don't know about "The Club for Growth." They have raised millions of dollars and then used that money to run conservative Republicans against moderate/liberal Republicans. In 2004, they endorsed and heavily supported conservative Republican Pat Toomey over liberal Republican and INCUMBENT Arlen Specter in the Republican Primary.

Another more recent example is supporting (not just endorsing in name only) conservative Tim Walberg over the more liberal incumbent Republican Joe Shwarz.

I do, and I am a democrat, I think the difference is repugs look down on people in their own party for feeling that way, but democrats welcome the people that are pro life, and gay or straight are always welcome.

Edit: it is also a fallacy that repuglicans are fiscally conservatives, Reagan and Bush jr. have out spent many of the Dem presidents hands down. Clinton was actually more fiscally conservative then most repuglicans.

Republican usually refers to fiscal conservatism and small gov't and morality has been shoved in there to detract from other issues.

It scares me to see people on here simply think in terms of Liberal/Conservative, which is essentially extremism. Modern politics demands a more middle of the road strategy. We are all capable of independant thought, but some people (and definetly some on here) lack critical thought.

The far left thinks that if we're not leaning the exact same way as them then we're intellectually inferior to them.

Rudy Giulani hopefully can get the looney lefties to see the light.

It's Giulani Time!

Sure, I realize that. Just as not every liberal wants a socialist state. I could ask you the same questions.
