you can make money by:
making websites for others, (like it's been mentioned web designing ),
or by
making website for yourself and selling your own products,
or by
making website and selling someone else's products (that's called online affiliate marketing - check out cj.com or affiliatewindow.com or tradedoubler.com)
You can also make money by having some ads on your site (like Google Adsense) and earning money every time someone click on a link) - but you need a VERY popular site in order to make a living out of it.

There are many ways of earning money on the net.. you can earn money by web designing, doing graphics, translating , selling stuff, going on ebay.. Advertising... and many more ways it depends on which field do u want to work on.. in my opinion having a hight visited web site is the best....

to be honest, I have seen THOUSANDS of folks claim to be making money on the 'net', but I know only a few that actually do, and they are basically using the Internet for businesses that would be successful in a store front situation as well
