I have a Gateway notebook model MX3562. My ac adapter recently broke on me. However, my sister has a different model of gateway laptop. Her ac adapter is bigger and has more watts then my original one. Can her gateway liteon ac adapter be used on my laptop? Im using it right now, and im getting power for it. However, Im afraid that too much power might not be good for my laptop. Any advice? Thanks...

The wattage is only the "potential" power that the charger can deliver.
The electronics of the PC will only draw the wattage that it needs. So if the pc needs 10 watts and the charger is rated for 15 watts the PC will only draw the 10 it requires for charging or operation of the PC.

The voltage is the critical factor. Just make sure the voltage required is the same on both the broken charger and the charger your using and you will be okay.

Hope this helps.

watts has nothing to do with it all as that means is the unit can supply more power if it needs to than you old one
everything will be ok as long as the output voltage is the same as your old one and the power plug that fits in to your laptop it the same polarity
