Since "seeing light" as you call it is caused by light passing through the cornea and passes it to the retina. Seeing is just light from objects reflecting into your eyes, and into your brain to be "decoded".

Sorry for anyone in a profession with eyes, I know I've completely slaughtered and watered down what actually happens.

Anyhow, what color you see when you close your eyes could depend on how much ligh is present, how thick your eyelids are, and what types of objects are around you. It could also vary with different colored lights.

To put it simply, if you have your eyes closed completely, you should see black. If there is a plain light shining on your face, the light could be perceived as red, etc.

The eye reacts to light the eye lid is not the best cover or way of blocking out light...sooo if light is able to pass through the lids (which it can) then we would see whatever light is being passed.

Currently white, because I see the afterglow of looking at the computer screen when I shut my eyes. If you rub your eyes you can see many colours..

If there facing light they will see red because they'll be seeing blood through the skin of their eyelids.
