I was sort of a late comer but I sure know it now! One thing I don't get is how they go around answering to the term "Yankee" when a Canadian or British person says it and they both write and call themselves Yankees sometimes yet many times if one of us calls them a Yankee it's like we said the n-word or something and they go off about how the war is over. I mean, hello, we're not hypocrites and we are pretty clear that we answer to the word American but not Yankee and this applies to the British and everyone else. What about this do they not understand? It's hard to call a person from Arizona or Las Vegas a "Northerner" so what exactly is the politically correct word nowadays for a Yankee so they'll know it's not offensive? Do we say "American non-Southerner" or "Yankee- non-Damn Yankee" or just "Hey you!"??????

Unless you can cite some solid evidence to support your statement......It is one word. To a Southerner, the expression d@mned yankee is one word, always used together.
The reason is, if you were not graced by God to have been born Southern, well you must be d@mned.

Those people stand "on line"....drink "pop" and eat PEE-can pies...
With that said, you mean to tell me that "damn" and "yankees" aret two distinctly separate words???
The in that case, i'll certainly stop saying "damn Yankees"...
How about "F*u*cking Yankees"??
Is that better????t
