A swim? Are you serious? The north sea is about as inviting as a Piranha infested lagoon.

Both. The nicest beach I've ever seen, was near Durness in Sutherland (Scotland). I paddled in there for about 30 seconds. My feet were blue for 10 minutes. I swear you can smell icebergs up there.

Paddle about at the edge (It's ALWAYS too bloody cold, even in summer). When the water gets over my ankles, I run , screaming like a wuss up the beach..

are you insane?? swim?? in the uk?? youd be better off just having an ice bath.
but whatever if you were insane enough to go into the depths then youd have to swim. it would be pretty pathetic if you braved the water only to paddle in the shallows.

I don't even paddle as I'm fearful of giant Dundee poops that often bob along the coast from the sewage pipes!!!

i live by the sea in Cornwall and i swim, Last year i was stung on the leg by a bloodie jelly fish but it hasn't put me off. i love my weekly swim but i only swim in summer. in winter i paddle.

i start off with a paddle-then i have 2 go for a swim coz my son wont go in alone(thats my excuse anyway) xx
