If your friend really want to be different she should use a traditional name and actually spell it correctly. The current trend are new names wtih kre8tive spellings. Her child would be lucky to have a name that doesn't look like her parents dropped out of school in 1st grade.

HER = the baby? Or the mother?
For the baby, there are baby name books that are possibly overwhelming. For the mother, we had a friend named "Anne" and her husband's name was "Andy".
When she was pregnant, we called her: "Pregnanny" and her husband: "Pregnandy". It was hilarious.

You should go and get her the Baby Name Wizard book. It tells you all the names and it tells you how popular they are or how rare they are. I found quite a few cute but rare names in it.

Search through some baby name sites, such as http://www.babynamesworld.com/ . These sites have a very large database of names, and you can also search by meaning.
