I would absolutely be upset. Your pets become part of the family. I have a dog and cat and I would be very upset if anything happened to them. Last May when my back door was kicked in and my house was robbed, I was more concerned about where my dog was than I was what was missing. (I didnt have the cat yet) Once we found the dog, I concentrated on the missing items.

Real close... she's lying on my feet.
Oops, just read the fine print. I'm so very, very, very sorry for your loss! I lost a beloved dog to diabetes 3 years ago come May and I still find myself crying about it sometimes.
Yes, I'd be VERY upset if something happened to my beloved pet. Nobody will ever love me the way my pets do. It's truly unconditional love! Pets give so much and ask for so little in return.
Your cat is not "just an animal" and I do believe our pets have souls. How can they not get into Heaven? How would it be Heaven if they're not there with us when we get there?
I am so very, very sorry for your loss.

I have one cat that I am absolutely in love with. It is a relationship that others don't seem to understand, so I don't mention it. We've known each other for over 12 years. I would cry for days.
and I'm sorry some idiot said that to you.
I once called into work because I had to take my dieing cat to the vet. Upon returning to work, some jerk manager had the nerve to say it was just an animal....

When my Bubba died in May 1997, I had to take a week off work to get over it...I laid in the bed and cried for most of that week. If anything happened to Baby or Worf, or even Heidi, who is not my cat but my husband's....I would be a wreck and probably cry for a long long time. I am much closer to my animals than I am to my people, incidentally. People's love can be conditional. Animals love me even if I smell bad or don't have makeup on or my roots are showing!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry!

I am really sorry about that ;o( It was very uncalled for that driver to hit your cat like that. Your cat was part of your family and not just an animal!! Anyone with a heart beating in them should know and respect that. I am deeply sorry for the loss of your cat and I I know there are no words that will help in your grief. Know that we here are there for you anytime ;o)

I'm sorry for your loss. My poor baby girl (mini-schnauzer) had 17 teeth pulled a few weeks ago. She's only 4. The vet says these breeds have inherently horrible teeth. Anyway, I felt SO bad for her. I know she didn't understand. All she knew is that I took her to this mean lady and when she woke up her mouth REALLY hurt and her teeth were missing. I feel like she blamed me and I cried for her.
People who say things like that simply have no understanding of a relationship between people and thier beloved pets. I feel badly for them. They are missing out on a very sweet part of life.

Yes, I would cry and I have heard the same thing from people. I feel bad for stray dogs, and when I see a dead cat on the side of the road I cry.
