This is the direction that we are going in. World travel and the internet are bridging connections between cultures. Interracial unions will continue to produce children with the qualities of both parents, blurring traditional distinctions of race. Hopefully more and more people would be able to derive the benefits from a singular culture, such as widespread education. There could be some scary drawbacks. But hopefully, humans could finally stop squabbling over small issues and become a species united on this planet for a common cause: to survive in the cosmos.

However this kind of "group" will probably not be realistic for thousands of years as there are huge disagreements over religion, culture, and government. I say democracy limited by a bill of rights works best in every age, and the best "group" would allow individual variations.

Well, all people belong to the same race, but different ethnic groups. I imagine it would be like living in Japan before imperialism, and when Japan was entirely closed off and isolated. One people, one race, on nation that industrialized and became a world power despite having very few resources available. Perhaps if we stopped distinguishing between races other than for genetic purposes a change would occur.

People of the same 'race' have managed to discriminate and have wars ect thru out history. If there was only one 'race' people would still manage to devide themselves into hostile groups For instance, U.S. civil war, British class system, ect
